The answer is surprisingly no, it does not hurt at all! Our needles are so thin, flexible, and tiny—they are actually thinner than human hair!—that you hardly feel them. Some points you feel more than others, but it is not painful. Treatments are actually surprisingly relaxing. Because the stimulation of these points cause your brain to release endorphins and oxytocin (the feel-good chemicals), you will feel a deep relaxation.
We work with every child to show them how this medicine works and they get to CHOOSE how the practitioner decides on their treatment. We first create trust with your child so that every experience is a good one and the child develops good healthy patterns from the beginning. Sitting still is NOT required—all of our practitioners are trained to handle the squirmiest of infants/kids. If the child refuses to have needles (that does happen sometimes), we work with other healing modalities to still provide great healthcare. Every child benefits from treatment, no matter their temperament.

We accept most major medical insurance, as well as VA/Triwest, so if you are a veteran please contact our office to discuss how to get your treatments covered. We also are in network with Blue Cross, Regence, Cigna and more, but every plan is different and not all plans that “cover acupuncture” actually do so in Idaho. Please contact our office to see if you have insurance benefits that cover our services. Our prices listed include the cash at time of service discount, and do not reflect the added cost of insurance billing and administration and processing fees. If your insurance denies coverage after treatment, please be aware that you are responsible for the full fee that does not include the cash discount. If you would like to take advantage of the cash discount, you may pay for the service at time of service and we can provide you with a “superbill”, which you can submit to the insurance company for direct reimbursement. Ask our office for details.

**Insurance does not cover Functional Medicine.

The cash at time of service discounted fee rates can be found here. Subject to change and varies per service.

First sessions usually take an hour, but can last as long as 90 minutes. Return sessions are about 30 minutes. **Keep in mind that a session is not about the TIME, it is about providing the appropriate services for each condition. Some cases require less time, some cases require more.** We offer longer sessions that include time with the practitioner to discuss questions, lifestyle, etc, in the “Acupuncture Plus Consulation” Visits.

No. Pain is just one of the conditions we treat. The best part about natural healthcare is its ability at PREVENTION. This means that even if nothing is “wrong”, you can still benefit from treatment and prevent future breakdowns, disease, etc.

There are a lot of factors that go in to how quickly your body will heal—like how long you’ve had the condition, genetics, lifestyle, etc.—so it’s very difficult to give an estimate of how many treatments you will need before seeing how you respond to the acupuncture session. On average 6 visits tends to be the magic number; but in very severe or chronic conditions, this number could easily get up to 20+. We respect your time and money,  and will always endeavor to get you to your goal as fast as possible. After the 2nd or 3rd treatment, after the acupuncturist has had a chance to evaluate how quickly your body responded to the acupuncture, we will provide you with a treatment plan so that you know more about what to expect during this process.

Functional Medicine is a style of natural medicine that looks at all the puzzle pieces of your symptoms, labs, environment, genetics, and years of lifestyle/diet/stress/traumas, in order to assess the root cause of the dysfunction and help you to recover your health naturally, through your own body’s wisdom. This can include dietary changes, lifestyle coaching, supplementation, or other natural health care treatment strategies. Here is a good resource for more information on functional medicine.
