Children’s Health/Services

As parents, there is nothing we want more than for our children to be happy, healthy, and thriving. Everyone wants to provide the best healthcare for their children, but most people do not know the amazing benefits of Chinese medicine for children in preventing illness, repairing disease and injuries, and promoting their overall physical, emotional, and mental health.

Dr. Davis will do a non-invasive physical exam to check for spinal alignment and range of motion as well as other signs of imbalance, along with talking with both the parent and child about possible symptoms or emotions with which the child might be struggling. Dr. Davis then creates a treatment plan that would be best for your child; this can include Chinese herbs, bodywork/craniosacral, cupping, and acupuncture–either with needles or gentle e-stim (needles are only used when your child has trust with us and has seen a demonstration so that there is no fear and they know it won’t hurt—please see our video below. Not all children will receive acupuncture with needles).

What does Chinese Medicine for Children Treat?:
⦁ Headache, jaw pain, jaw clenching, migraines
⦁ Insomnia, poor sleep, fearful sleeping, nightmares & night terrors
⦁ Bedwetting or issues with potty training
⦁ Anxiety and depression (including an over-attachment to parents that is interfering with school)
⦁ Digestive upset—constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain, fear of “going potty”
⦁ Fatigue; catches cold & flu easily
⦁ Hormonal imbalance
⦁ Emotional issues—anger, cries easily, fearful
⦁ Weight issues (over and under)
⦁ And so much more.

What affects Children’s health to cause imbalances which leads to these symptoms?

  • Accidents/Falls: Children often fall—tripping, jumping off swings, falling off monkey bars, you name it. Even falls that do not seem like they injured anything can cause tiny micro-traumas that accumulate overtime and affect circulation. This then leads to pain and hormonal imbalances.
Environment: Exposure to environmental and chemical hazards can have a direct impact upon a child’s health. This may make them susceptible to things like colds, allergies, asthma, and digestive troubles.
  • Diet: A diet lacking in proper nutrition can affect organ function and eventually overall health and wellbeing. Acupuncture helps strengthen and support out-of-balance organs.
  • Emotions: Children may experience unpleasant situations that affect them emotionally. They can internalize the stress from these situations, and over time, this stress can manifest into various signs and symptoms.
If not properly detected and cared for, stressors can lead to an inadequate supply of energy and blood circulation necessary to nourish and support health. Eventually, your child may have symptoms and signs of illness, disease and pain may appear. Chinese medicine can both correct this and prevent it from starting.
